WHY OUR MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS ARE IMPORTANT
Since the beginning of our organization in 2009, the FRIENDS have been passionate about encouraging access to this beautiful and historic park, offering pure enjoyment in seeing its history come alive, its environment preserved and resources protected. Through the continued support of our members and volunteers, and generous donations to the FRIENDS, we have been able to accomplish many things!
Guest Mobility Scooters | Parking Lot Restriped |
![]() Mobility around the park is of utmost importance. These scooters can go 40 MPH (NOT), and provide a wonderful and comfortable way to see everything in the park, even on the River Cruise! |

Wilderness Cruise Boat Dock Beautification |
There have been many "happenings" going on at the Wilderness Cruise Boat Dock by FRIENDs and staff! Improved landscaping, clean-up, and installation of these beautiful statues carved from dead trees around the dock, by none other than the master chainsaw carver, Brian Ruth! |
ANNUAL NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY VOLUNTEER EFFORTS |
Our annual NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY event, held every September, is easily our largest single-day volunteer effort! It celebrates environmental stewardship and greatly helps in the maintenance of our park grounds. We are forever thankful to our volunteers for their hard work and dedication to our beautiful park! |
